A popular diet that I found online is the Atkins diet. Dr. Atkins, a cardiologist, created a diet that limited a person’s intake of sugar and carbohydrates. The Atkin’s diet is used for weight loss. By limiting your intake of carbohydrates, the body burns fat. Weightloss is the ultimate outcome. They claim that you lose weight while still feeling full. The intake of calories is higher but because the body is burning fat you still lose weight. I used to believe pretty much any diet plan I saw but now I realize that diets don’t work. Going on a diet is setting yourself up for failure. Diets are temporary. They end. You may lose weight on a diet because you are more conscious of what you’re putting into your body and the amount of exercise that you do. Once you reach your goal you stop, the diet is over. Then what happens? When you go back to how you ate before the diet you’re most likely going to gain the weight back. To truly lose weight and keep it off, it’s best to change to a healthier lifestyle. Be more conscious of what food you’re putting into your body and how often you exercise. Make it a real life commitment. Don’t just make it a short term diet or else you’ll just get short term results.
