I do believe that there should be anti smoking laws. I think everybody has the right to breathe clean air. Cigarettes contain really harmful and toxic chemicals. It's bad enough that people willingly put that stuff into their bodies but it's unfair that they force others to be exposed to it as well.Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) causes cancer and can be extremely harmful to children. Children who are exposed ETS can develop respiratory illnesses and worsening of asthma. I understand that some people are addicted to smoking cigarettes and need to smoke them so I think there should be certain designated areas. If there are designated smoking areas then the smokers can get their fix and non smokers can avoid the areas where there will be ETS. I am against smoking. I grew up with two parents that smoked and they both developed lung cancer. Also because of the second hand smoke I now have a cough, second hand smokers cough. When I was younger and got sick I had to use an inhaler to help me breath. The second hand smoke was having its effects on my respiratory system and a combination of that and being sick made it uncomfortable to breathe. There are no advantages of smoking. The only thing it does is help smokers feel better. Tobacco is a drug. We have laws against other drugs, we should also have laws against smoking. Banning smoking from all public buildings is a good start. I can agree that there should be designated areas, away from everyone and crowds, for smokers to indulge in their habit. Overall smoking should have more laws against it. CVS had the right idea when they announced that they would no longer sell ay tobacco.
