My brother and sister in law moved in this summer and they live a very healthy lifestyle. About two months ago my sister in law introduced my to an app called my fitness pal. With MyFitnessPal you can enter everything you eat, what exercise you do, how much weight you are losing, the amount of water you drink, etc. You are also able to see what percentage each meal was, the nutrients, and the macros. I really enjoy using this app and I think it's really handy and easy to use. My data for the day (8-28-15) was: Breakfast: 100% Whole Wheat Bagel Thin=110 cal Philadelphia Cream Cheese=160 cal Lunch: Rice-a-roni Long Grain and Wild Rice=240 Kirkland Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast=110 cal Grill Mates BBQ Seasoning=0 cal Dinner: Kirkland Frozen Salmon=340 cal Zucchini=18 cal Sliced Yellow Onion=46 cal Mushrooms=32 cal Snacks: Sprouts Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds=385 cal The data tells me that I didn’t reach my goal in carbohydrates or fiber. I also went over my goal of saturated fat and trans fat. I was also short of my goal for Potassium, Vitamin A & C, calcium, and iron. I was under my macronutrient goal for carbohydrates and over my goal for fat and protein. I need to use a brown rice instead of a packaged rice-a-roni, not eat so many chocolate almonds, and find a different seasoning. That should help bring the fat percentage down. Also I need to have more color in my diet so I can get those essential nutrients. To lower my intake of protein I should eat half of the salmon and chicken, not the whole thing. |
