Suicide is a growing epidemic in our country. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in 2013 41,149 suicides were reported which made suicide the tenth leading cause of death in America. When a person is thinking about committing suicide there are warning signs in their moods, behaviors, and how they talk. If someone is talking about having unbearable pain, being a burden to others, or having no reason to live then they are most likely thinking about suicide. A person can shows signs of suicidal thoughts through their behaviors which include: increased drug or alcohol use, researching how to kill themselves, acting recklessly, isolating themselves, aggression, and giving away prized possessions. A person who is considering suicide can show changes in mood like depression, loss of interest, and anxiety. Although all of these examples are warning signs of suicide, they aren’t the only ones, there are more signs.
